Job description

Ascend is a fast‑growing public accounting firm focused on providing a modern work environment with flexible arrangements and a commitment to client service. The firm partners with regional CPA firms to deliver technology, talent acquisition, and shared services while maintaining a culture that values professional growth and collaboration.

Who You Are
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree or CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Have at least 2 years of tax experience.
  • Are friendly, professional, and highly organized.
  • Can thrive under tight deadlines and during busy season(s).
  • Take pride in your work and put “Client First” at the core of your service.
  • Show willingness to learn, grow personally, and embrace challenges.
  • Preferably work as a valued member of a team rather than a clock‑puncher.
  • Enjoy a business casual environment with flexible work arrangements.
The Role

Prepare and review tax returns for Individuals, Corporations, S‑Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, and Estates. The Senior Tax Associate will work independently and as part of a team, maintain professional conduct, and have recurring direct client contact. The role requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work rapidly, accurately, and under pressure during tax season.

The Duties
  • Handle increased complexity levels of projects, including messy trial balances and journal entries.
  • Prepare complete and accurate returns and review others’ returns.
  • Prepare documentation to support tax return calculations.
  • Mentor Tax Associates and review data input to resolve technical issues.
  • Work closely with managers and partners and keep the team informed on status.
  • Communicate with clients throughout the preparation of their returns and across multiple years.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local tax codes.
  • Apply tax knowledge to real‑world situations and think creatively.
  • Share ideas and opinions with the team.
  • Attend professional development and training sessions regularly and apply learning to tasks.
The Perks

The compensation package includes a competitive base salary (commensurate with experience), a retirement plan, health/dental/vision insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability options, an EAP, self‑managed PTO, experience‑based recognition, continuing education opportunities, and incentives for achieving certifications or designations that benefit the firm.
