Title: Tax Senior

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior to join our tax team and deliver high-quality tax compliance, planning, and advisory services. The Tax Senior will be responsible for preparing and reviewing federal and state tax returns, managing client engagements, researching complex tax issues, and mentoring junior staff. The role requires strong technical tax knowledge (including C Corporation, S Corporation and Individual tax), excellent client communication, and the ability to meet firm deadlines while identifying opportunities for tax savings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for C Corporations, S Corporations and Individuals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax laws.
- Perform technical tax research and analyze the impact of tax law changes; present findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.
- Manage multiple client engagements from planning through delivery, including engagement budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Supervise, coach and review the work of junior tax staff; provide training and feedback to support professional development.
- Prepare and review supporting tax workpapers, schedules, and financial statement reconciliations related to tax filings.
- Identify tax planning opportunities and provide proactive advice to clients to minimize tax liabilities and mitigate risk.
- Coordinate with clients to collect necessary documentation, clarify tax positions and resolve tax-related questions.
- Represent clients before taxing authorities during audits and inquiries, preparing responses and supporting documentation as needed.
- Utilize tax software and accounting systems to improve workflow efficiency and ensure high-quality tax deliverables.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws, regulations and best practices, and implement process improvements within the tax department.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; Masters degree or advanced tax coursework is a plus.
- CPA licensure required or CPA eligible (preferred).
- 3+ years of public accounting tax experience (or equivalent corporate tax experience) with substantive exposure to C Corp, S Corp and Individual tax returns.
- Strong technical background in tax accounting and tax compliance, including tax research and application of tax law.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSeries, CCH Axcess) and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven client relationship management experience.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff and reviewing complex tax workpapers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
