Job summary

The Bonadio Group is seeking a Tax Principal to lead our Small Business Advisory (SBA) team in a hybrid role serving clients around Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Baltimore and northern Maryland. You will drive client engagements, mentor staff, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver timely, high‑quality tax services.

This position emphasizes work/life balance, growth, and relationship development, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA certification or EA certification.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant recent CPA firm experience.
  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to team.
  • Proven ability to develop and sustain business relationships for the purpose of increasing the firms client base.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite inclusive of Teams and Outlook.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for developing and managing client relationships and to identify new business opportunities contributing to growth and development.
  • Work with an engagement to team to successfully service clients in multiple industries.
  • Tax compliance, research, correspondence and planning.
  • Develop an understanding of our client’s business and aspects of their industry.
  • Review and prepare clear and concise working papers.
  • Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of a situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  • Develop effective working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Assist with development and retention of clients, including the ability to cross-sell services.
  • Assist clients with special projects such as budgeting and cash flow projections, tax planning and sales tax.
  • Deliverprojects/engagements on time, within budget and to client’s satisfaction.
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff inclusive of oversight on client engagements and providing evaluative feedback.

We have tremendous opportunities for a Tax Principal to play a key role on our Small Business Advisory (SBA) team. This hybrid and flexible scheduled position will consider candidates residing in and around Wilmington, Delaware including Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Baltimore and northern Maryland. Hours of Operation
  • Our office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Our summer hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Flex Friday scheduling available in accordance with firm policy and business needs
  • We pride ourselves on our flexibility; however, the ability to work additional hours will be needed at peak times
