Specialized Accounting & Tax is an experienced accounting and tax firm dedicated to managing the financial and tax complexities of businesses and individuals in industries such as hospitality, marinas, restaurants, and service-based ventures.
This is a full-time remote role for a Tax Manager. As a Tax Manager, you will oversee client communication, follow-up, and the overall customer experience for the tax department while coordinating the timely and accurate completion of individual and business tax returns. You will delegate assignments, monitor progress, guide team members, and perform hands-on tax preparation and data entry as needed. As the department grows, your responsibilities will increasingly focus on technical review, team guidance, and quality control.
This role is ideal for a tax professional with some management experience who enjoys communicating with clients, organizing work, developing others, and learning new skills. You will use established company procedures to prepare client tax maps, twice-yearly tax projections, and related planning deliverables. Training will be provided on company-specific processes and tax strategies; you must be able to apply that training consistently across client accounts and help the team do the same.
This position is a long-term remote role with a full-time schedule. The role must be your first priority in terms of work/employment. You will be unable to work full-time elsewhere and satisfactorily complete the duties required of this position (i.e., it is not a side hustle).
This role demands availability that aligns with our team’s operational needs, including essential meetings, collaborative projects, client interactions, and time-sensitive tax deadlines during business hours. Our work environment values flexibility but also requires adaptability, timely communication, and active engagement. Fixed availability periods cannot be accommodated in this position.

- Prepare client tax maps, twice-yearly projections, implementation materials, and strategy deliverables using company training, approved recommendations, and established procedures.
- Identify missing information, discrepancies, technical questions, and client concerns. Coordinate with leadership or specialists when additional expertise or approval is needed.
- Apply new tax strategies and technology, improve procedures, and uphold standards for quality, confidentiality, data security, and client responsiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Working knowledge of tax workpapers, source documents, depreciation, fixed assets, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Understanding of entity structures and flow-through taxation, including sole proprietorships, disregarded LLCs, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and owner reporting.
- Ability to identify errors and missing information, provide actionable feedback, and assume increasing responsibility for return review and quality control.
- Strong communication, organization, prioritization, delegation, and deadline-management skills, including confidence speaking directly with clients.
- Ability to apply training and procedures consistently, exercise sound judgment, and recognize when additional guidance is needed.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax technology; Drake Tax and Double experience is especially beneficial.
- Experience in hospitality, restaurants, marinas, real estate, or service-based industries is a plus.
