Job summary

Archer Lewis, LLC, a national accounting and advisory firm, seeks a senior tax leader to oversee all tax compliance, reporting, planning, and strategy for the firm and its clients. You will apply deep technical expertise to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance within a small‑firm, client‑focused environment.

You will lead a hands‑on tax team, mentor staff, and collaborate with firm leadership to drive high‑quality outcomes and long‑term client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Active CPA license is required.
• Master’s degree in Taxation strongly preferred (MST or MTax).
• Embraces AI and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency, innovation, and client service.
• Ongoing commitment to continuing professional education and licensure maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive tax accounting experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
• Experience in a public accounting firm or large corporate tax department desired.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
• Experience working with business owners, executives, or senior leadership.
• Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software (CCH, Thomson Reuters, GoSystem) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and lead the tax department team.
• Mentor and manage the tax department, including performance management and staff development.
• Foster a collaborative, high‑performing environment with accountability and quality.
• Oversee preparation and review of federal, state, local and international tax returns where applicable.
• Ensure compliance across entities (C corps, S corps, partnerships, individuals).
• Monitor filing deadlines and maintain quality control standards.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies for business owners and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Serve as subject matter expert on complex tax matters and oversee research/ documentation.
• Track tax legislation changes and communicate implications to clients and teams.
• Manage audits and coordinate with taxing authorities; guide clients through resolution and appeals.
• Oversee income tax provisions under ASC 740 including deferred taxes and uncertain positions.
• Identify process improvements and leverage tax technology to improve efficiency.
