Job summary

DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Tax Manager in Texas to lead client engagements, set assessment strategies, and drive tax savings. The role oversees deliverable quality, supports business development, and mentors team members across the practice.

Responsibilities include strategizing appeals, producing analyses, conducting on-site inspections, and managing key accounts as the primary contact. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience; property tax, valuation, or accounting preferred.
  • Experience in negotiations with contract appraisal firms (Capital, P&A) and their valuation methodology.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong problem-solving capability.
  • Strong organizational, research, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and review assessment strategies; represent clients during appeals and hearings with taxing authorities.
  • Produce and review analyses supporting DMA's positions; ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of Reports of Findings.
  • Utilize DMA valuation models and templates; determine prior client methodologies; identify exemptions and abatements.
  • Conduct and/or oversee on-site property inspections.
  • Drive business development: identify and scope opportunities, meet with prospects, communicate DMA's services.
  • Manage assigned accounts: develop, sustain, and expand client relationships; serve as primary contact.
  • Maintain data in DMA's review management system for cases, assessments, property/fixed-asset data, and jurisdictional details.
  • Oversee production, billing, and invoicing for assigned work.
  • Track deadlines for filings, audits, appeals, protests, and tax-payment schedules.
  • Monitor industry trends and tax developments; share insights with clients and internal teams.
  • Work independently while leading cross-functional efforts; provide guidance to team members.
