Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown PC in Lincolnshire, IL seeks a Tax Manager to lead tax engagements, supervise staff, and nurture client relationships. The role involves reviewing returns, researching complex matters, and guiding teams across engagements.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Accounting, CPA/JD/MS in Taxation, and 5+ years in public accounting with leadership experience. Travel may be required. Base salary range is $125,000–$160,000 with bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
• CPA license, JD, or MS in Taxation required.
• Minimum 5 years of public accounting tax experience with leadership of multiple engagements and staff supervision.
• Excellent analytical, technical tax, and client-service skills.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-based environment.
• Leadership, training, and mentoring skills with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Organizational, project-management skills, and strong attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by staff and seniors for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for diverse clients and industries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members on evaluations and provide counsel.
• Serve as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs.
