Job summary

Empirical Wealth Management is seeking a Tax Manager in Irvine, CA to lead tax compliance and planning for a diverse client base. You will review federal and state returns, guide tax strategies, and collaborate with advisory teams to optimize outcomes.

The role requires at least five years in public accounting with a strong taxation background; CPA or JD is required and a Master’s in taxation is preferred. Salary ranges from $125,000 to $200,000 with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with extensive tax background.
• CPA or JD required; Masters in taxation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and projects.
• Proficiency with tax software and research tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign federal and state tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, nonprofits, corporations, and partnerships.
• Manage existing and build new client relationships.
• Oversee tax planning strategies for clients and run tax projections.
• Prepare internal memos, written tax guidance, and correspond with IRS and state tax authorities.
• Support and collaborate with the advisory team on tax planning related functions.
• Manage workflow, budgets, and billings.
• Evaluate and develop processes and procedures to improve tax department efficiency.
