Job summary

The CSP Group in the St. Louis area seeks a Tax Manager to guide client engagements, review complex returns, and mentor staff. You’ll partner with firm leadership to deliver high-quality tax services and develop the next generation of professionals within the organization.

Qualifications

  • CPA license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience, preferably focused in tax.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Experience managing tax engagements and leading teams.
  • Experience reviewing complex tax returns and tax projections.
  • Strong client advisory and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise, and manage tax compliance engagements from initial planning through final client delivery, including individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns.
  • Lead engagement teams to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable tax laws and firm standards.
  • Serve as a primary client contact for assigned engagements and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Oversee engagement planning, timelines, staffing, budgets, and overall engagement execution.
  • Review tax returns, workpapers, and projections prepared by staff and senior accountants, providing coaching and developmental feedback.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities, risks, and recommendations for clients and firm leadership.
  • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while monitoring deadlines and profitability.
  • Research and resolve complex federal, state, and local tax matters.
  • Mentor and develop staff through training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
  • Support business development efforts and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
  • Contribute to operational improvement initiatives and client service enhancements.
