Job summary

MOHR Talent in Schaumburg, IL seeks an experienced Tax Manager to lead complex tax engagements, review returns for high-net-worth clients, trusts, estates and pass-through entities, and mentor staff while strengthening client relationships.

CPA highly preferred with strong tax background; the role offers strong compensation, 5 weeks of PTO, and a path to people leadership after settling in. Expect extended hours during tax season.

Qualifications

• CPA certification and 5+ years of tax experience.
• Experience with trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
• Experience with pass-through entities.
• Ability to review complex tax returns and guide staff.
• Strong client relationship management.
• Willingness to work extended hours during tax season.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex tax engagements from planning through completion.
• Review returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, and pass-through entities.
• Research tax issues and advise clients on planning opportunities.
• Coordinate budgets, timelines, workpapers, and engagement progress.
• Communicate with clients on tax matters, deadlines, issues, and recommendations.
• Mentor and coach staff by answering questions and reviewing work.
• Support partners with client retention, service opportunities, and firm initiatives.
• Help identify planning strategies for clients in manufacturing, construction, nonprofit, and closely held businesses.
