Schneider Downs & Co., Inc. is seeking a Tax Manager – Corporate Tax to advise clients on ASC 740 reporting and collaborate with specialists in income tax accounting. You will liaise with clients and their accounting teams to ensure GAAP/IFRS reporting and drive tax planning opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent credential required (JD/LLM/Masters in Taxation accepted).
• Enrolled Agent credential accepted in lieu of CPA.
• Minimum of five years of public accounting experience in tax planning or returns.
• Demonstrated experience with federal corporate tax returns (1120s), tax provision, ASC 740.

Responsibilities

As a Tax Manager – Corporate Tax, you will provide our clients solutions to ensure appropriate reporting in accordance with ASC 740, as well as work with other specialists who are dedicated in the area of accounting for income tax and work closely with our clients’ accounting department to ensure proper reporting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). In this role, you will prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and the tax implications to the client, as well as maintain relationships with a diverse client base in various industries and assist firm leadership in identifying new opportunities and assist in obtaining new engagements.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagements
• Manage engagement workflow, engagement team resources and engagement billing
• Work as part of a coordinated client service team approach, working with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight to clients in a variety of industries
• Review engagement profitability and prepare and analyze monthly billing for assigned engagements
• Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities
• Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and tax implications
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting and tax software
• Provide leadership, counseling and career guidance for the development and motivation of the engagement team
• Represent firm and build relationships by attending fundraisers, meetings with prospects/bankers, charitable events, professional organizations, etc.
• Work as a team on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development and technological advances
• Stay informed of current and proposed tax legislation, communicating potential impacts to clients and assist with planning

What You’ll Need

• CPA, J.D., LL.M., or Master's in Taxation required; Enrolled Agent (EA) credential accepted in lieu of a CPA
• Minimum of five years of public accounting experience providing tax planning services and/or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns
• Demonstrated experience with federal corporate tax returns (1120s), tax provision preparation and/or ASC 740 income tax accounting
• Ability to develop business and foster client relationships
• Strong leadership, training and mentoring skills
• Excellent writing, communication and tax research skills
