Job summary

Empirical Wealth Management in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Tax Manager to lead the firm's tax practice for individuals, trusts, estates, nonprofits, corporations, and partnerships. You will sign off on returns, manage client relationships, and guide tax planning and projections.

The role requires at least 5 years in public accounting, CPA or JD, and preferably a Master's in taxation. You will collaborate with advisory teams, supervise workflows and budgets, and ensure compliance while

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with extensive background in taxation.
• CPA or JD required; Master's in taxation preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements and projects.
• Proficiency in or ability to adapt quickly to new tax software and research tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign off on federal and state tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, nonprofits, corporations, and partnerships.
• Manage existing and build new client relationships.
• Oversee tax planning strategies for clients and run tax projections.
• Prepare internal memos and written tax guidance, and correspond with IRS and state tax authorities.
• Support and collaborate with the advisory team on tax planning related functions.
• Manage workflow, budgets, and billings.
• Evaluate and develop processes to improve tax department efficiency.
