• Active CPA licence required.

• Experience with privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior tax professionals.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word and other standard tax/accounting technologies.

Key Responsibilities

As a Tax Manager, you will:

• Manage, prepare and review complex federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, S corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates.
• Oversee multiple tax engagements while ensuring work is completed accurately and within required deadlines.
• Develop proactive tax-planning strategies, projections and recommendations for clients.
• Provide tax consulting and advisory support to privately held businesses, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals.
• Conduct technical tax research and remain informed about changes to federal, state and local tax laws.
• Research and respond to tax notices, examinations and correspondence from government authorities.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, potential risks, planning opportunities and changes in tax legislation.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with business owners, senior client leadership and high-net-worth individuals.
• Identify additional tax-planning and advisory opportunities within new and existing client relationships.
• Review the work of tax associates and senior accountants, providing coaching, technical guidance and professional development.
• Assist with the management of workflow, budgets, deadlines and staffing across the tax department.
• Support the continued growth of the tax practice through networking, referrals and business-development activities.
• Maintain the firm’s high standards of technical accuracy, responsiveness and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

• An active CPA licence.
• A minimum of eight years of progressive tax experience within public accounting.
• Significant experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 1041 and related federal and state filings.
• Experience working with privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates.
• Previous experience with a national, regional or established local CPA firm.
• Strong technical tax research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage multiple client engagements, competing priorities and filing deadlines.
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring and reviewing the work of junior tax professionals.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• The confidence and professionalism required to communicate directly with business owners, executives and high-net-worth clients.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and other standard tax and accounting technologies.

An established professional network or book of business would be advantageous but is not required.
