Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Tax and Accounting Manager for a full-time, remote role.

Our client is a small accounting firm specializing in tax and bookkeeping.

We are offering a salary up to $120,000 with full benefits, a 401k, and flexible PTO.

What You'll be Doing:

A growing financial services firm is seeking an Tax and Accounting Manager to take ownership of managing client relationships across all facets of their financial operations.

This role involves handling a wide range of responsibilities including bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, compliance, financial reporting, and estate planning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, client-focused, and thrives in a dynamic, small office environment. Flexible remote or hybrid work arrangements are available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process payroll and prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, including W-2s and 1099s
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger entries using accounting software
• Facilitate invoice payments through both paper and electronic methods
• Record and track revenue receipts and manage cash flow
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports (e.g., income statements and balance sheets) compliant with US GAAP
• Analyze financial reports and prepare variance analyses
• Handle statutory filings with federal, state, and local tax authorities, including estimated tax payments
• Coordinate with clients, banks, insurance brokers, and other business partners
• Manage client assets through insurance and asset management software
• Review and mentor bookkeepers as needed
• Ensure tax returns align accurately with balance sheet data
• Make adjusting journal entries, separate loan principal and interest, and perform depreciation calculations
• Support HR functions and conduct insurance audits
• Recommend technology tools and systems to small businesses to improve operational efficiency

Who You Are:

• 5+ years of experience as a bookkeeper or staff accountant
• 5+ years of QuickBooks ERP system experience
• Tax experience using ProSeries software is required
• Strong team player with the ability to manage 25–30 clients monthly and supervise junior staff
