About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax planning, compliance, and advisory engagements for privately held businesses and their owners. This role is responsible for managing complex tax engagements involving partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and individual business owners while providing strategic tax guidance, overseeing client relationships, and mentoring tax professionals. The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with exceptional leadership, project management, and client service skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and oversee the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and privately held businesses.
  • Advise clients on tax planning, compliance, research, entity structuring, allocations, and business transactions.
  • Conduct advanced tax research on complex or emerging tax issues and prepare technical memorandums supporting tax positions.
  • Define engagement objectives, scope, timelines, and work plans while ensuring successful project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Identify engagement resource requirements and assign work to ensure efficient delivery of high quality tax services.
  • Manage engagement budgets, billing, accounts receivable, staffing, scheduling, and overall engagement profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional tax advisory and consulting services.
  • Support business development initiatives by assisting with new client opportunities and expanding existing client engagements.
  • Seek regular client feedback to ensure exceptional service and continuous improvement.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior associates through technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of U.S. tax consulting or tax compliance experience in a public accounting environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience managing client engagements and supervising tax professionals.
  • CPA, JD, or Enrolled Agent credential with authorization to practice before the IRS.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws affecting individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and privately held businesses.
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements while maintaining exceptional client service.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to conduct tax research and provide practical recommendations for complex tax matters.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related discipline.
  • Experience advising privately held businesses and business owners on tax planning and compliance strategies.
  • Proven success developing client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand advisory services.
  • Experience mentoring and developing tax professionals in a public accounting environment.
