Job summary

AngelList's Belltower Funds seeks a Tax Lead – Full Service to lead technical review of platform-advised funds, focusing on complex partnership allocations and foreign reporting. You will coach staff and partner with Engineering to drive automation.

5+ years in partnership tax, with Form 1065/K-1 experience, §704(b)/§704(c) allocations, and multi-state filings. Hybrid role based in NYC/SF with in-office days.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of partnership tax experience in public accounting, fund administration, or industry.
• Review experience on complex Forms 1065 and Schedules K-1.
• Hands-on experience with §704(b)/§704(c) allocations and carry waterfalls.
• Knowledge of PFIC reporting, withholding, and multi-state filings.
• Clear written communication for non-tax readers.
• CPA, EA, or attorney admitted in a US jurisdiction, or progress toward one.

Responsibilities

• Review complex partnership returns and Schedules K-1, including tiered funds, blockers, and carried interest structures.
• Apply §704(b), §704(c), and waterfall provisions, and confirm allocations before estimates and K-1s go out.
• Review PFIC reporting, withholding, and foreign reporting forms.
• Validate new system builds with Engineering by defining expected results and testing them.
• Coach Associates and Senior Associates through review notes and training.
• Identify opportunities to use AI/automation to reduce manual review.
