Job summary

Monroe Capital LLC in Chicago seeks an experienced tax professional to oversee REIT/BDC tax matters and partner tax issues for the funds and their entities. You will lead the tax function, collaborate with accounting, and advise on tax-efficient structuring for deals and ongoing operations.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of tax experience, CPA or Master’s preferred, and a hands-on leadership style to mentor junior staff and coordinate with external advisors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of tax experience, preferably Big Four or in-house at an investment manager.
• Strong knowledge of REIT/BDC taxation and partnership tax basics.
• Ability to oversee all tax filings and coordinate with outside preparers.
• Excellent communication for investor reporting and cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax compliance lifecycle for funds and related entities, including 1120‑RIC, 1120‑REIT, 1065.
• Coordinate with Accounting for financial statement reporting and tax implications.
• Ensure adherence to REIT/BDC tax requirements and 1940 Act considerations.
• Prepare and distribute investor tax documents (1099s, 1042‑S, etc.).
• Advise on tax-efficient structuring for deals and dispositions.
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and monitor legislative changes.
• Lead and mentor junior staff; interface with external tax advisors.
