  • Assist with Legal Drafting and Documentation: Prepare and review legal documents, correspondence, and other written materials to support tax-related casework and client representation.

  • Support Client Services: Assist with client communication, gathering and organizing relevant documentation, and identifying information needed to evaluate legal issues and available options under attorney supervision.

  • Learn Tax Law Processes: Develop an understanding of tax-related legal procedures, applicable requirements, and available options for addressing tax disputes and seeking financial relief.

  • Build Legal Knowledge and Skills: Strengthen practical legal research, writing, and analytical skills while developing familiarity with tax law, low-income taxpayer advocacy, and the legal challenges affecting underserved communities.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of at least one year of law school in an ABA‑Accredited law program

  • Must be a current law school student or recent law school graduate

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Interest in tax law, taxpayer advocacy, and resolving tax-related legal issues

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other team members

  • Comfort learning new technology, managing digital files, and using Microsoft Office applications

  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced legal environment

  • Experience with client communication, community service, advocacy, or other work supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds is a plus

Compensation:

This is a part‑time position that pays $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

The position offers flexibility to work 10-20 hours per week, with the ability to coordinate a consistent schedule around classes, extracurricular activities, and other commitments. Law school graduates and students not currently enrolled for the semester may work up to 30 hours per week. While scheduling is flexible, a reasonably consistent weekly schedule is expected. Specific workdays and hours can be discussed. Students interested in starting during the Fall 2026 semester are preferred; candidates looking for a Spring 2027 opportunity will also be considered.
