Job summary

The West Virginia Tax Division seeks a Tax Audit Clerk to provide critical support by gathering and analyzing data to produce reports and to enter tax information into GenTax. The role requires examining returns for accuracy and compliance with state and federal laws.

Responsibilities include drafting detailed reports, sharing insights to inform enforcement strategies, and assisting in the development of tax forms and publications. A fingerprint background check is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Two years of accounting support and/or clerical office experience required.
• Two years of experience at the State Tax Division or two years of accounting support/clerical office experience may substitute training.

Responsibilities

• Examine tax returns and related documents for completeness, accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
• Gather, analyze, and interpret data from databases and reports to support investigations.
• Draft detailed reports and briefings for stakeholders with findings and recommendations.
