Job summary

Boulay's tax internship offers hands-on experience preparing income tax returns for individuals and businesses in a full-time, paid program running January through April in our Mankato, Minnesota office.

You will work under mentorship, tackle tax research, planning, and inquiries from federal and state authorities, while meeting coursework requirements and developing Excel/Outlook skills.

Competitive wage is $28.00 per hour with onboarding and training support.

Qualifications

• Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting and/or 150 credit hours
• Minimum 3.0 GPA and a solid track record of academic achievements
• Completion of intermediate accounting course(s)
• Completion of some Tax and/or Audit course(s) by time of internship
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Exemplary communication and organizational skills
• Strong desire to learn and develop professionally
• Motivated to serve clients
• Desire to be a team player

Responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns (individual, partnership, multistate, corporate, and other)
• Assist with quarterly planning
• Opportunities to respond to a variety of inquiries from Federal and State taxing authorities

Job description

We are currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our Tax Department. Our tax team proactively services individuals and businesses to help clients minimize taxes and maximize growth. With ongoing continuing education, you’ll stay current on tax legislation to identify strategic tax planning opportunities for clients.

As an Intern, you will prepare a variety of individual and business income tax returns, as well as perform relevant tax research. You will work with a variety of clients (within multiple industries) on their tax preparation and planning. You will be given the support you need to develop a breadth of skills and experiences that will enable you to achieve your goals. Internships are paid, full-time experiences which run January – April in our Mankato, Minnesota office. We recruit well in advance of this time frame to allow you flexibility and time to make arrangements for housing and required classes.

Final compensation may vary depending on an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
