Job summary

Distinct | North America in Dallas seeks a Tax Director to lead planning for clients with complex financial lives, focusing on 75% planning and 25% compliance. The role offers $200,000–$250,000 base plus a 25% target bonus and a performance-based upside.

You will work with the founders to shape new services and strategy while delivering sophisticated tax planning for oil & gas structures, investment partnerships and alternative assets.

Qualifications

• CPA/EA/JD/LLM in Tax required
• 8+ years in tax planning or advisory, not just compliance
• Curiosity about the code and ability to craft creative, defensible positions
• Commercial sense: strategy must work in the real world, not just on paper
• Clear communication and willingness to help colleagues grow
• CCH Axcess and SurePrep are a plus; Reg D, oil & gas or alternative strategies helpful

Responsibilities

• Leading planning work for clients with complex financial lives
• Researching and applying advanced positions across income, investment and business tax
• Advising on oil and gas structures, fund investments and alternative assets
• Providing client-facing advisors with technical depth on specific deals
• Collaborating with the founding team on product and service design
