Job summary

United Future is seeking a Tax Director to join our well established regional CPA firm in the San Jose area. You will lead tax planning, supervise staff, and manage large client engagements across SEC and closely held entities.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years experience in public accounting.
• At least two years experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
• Minimum one year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
• Minimum of forty hours of continuing education per year to maintain skills.
• Current and valid CPA license required.
• Must be a member in good standing with the AICPA.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.
• Serves as a subject matter expert in discipline or industry.
• Manages client service and ensures assignments are completed within budgeted time.
• Assumes responsibility for larger tax returns and delegates to staff as needed.
• Participates in client meetings and tax planning for larger clients.
• Acts as a resource for staff on tax issues and questions.
• Communicates tax developments affecting clients to firm personnel.
• Delegates and manages governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before authorities.
• Develops and trains staff through coaching and education.
• Occasional travel to clients’ offices, meetings, and seminars; overtime during peak season.
