Job summary

The Tax Director will oversee technical reviews, client service, staff development, and liaison with authorities, while guiding tax planning and ensuring timely billing and budget adherence.

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years in public accounting with increasing tax complexity
• At least two years representing clients before tax authorities
• Minimum one year supervising tax preparers
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; Master’s preferred
• Forty hours of continuing education per year required
• Current CPA license required; member in good standing with AICPA

Responsibilities

• Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental examinations
• Serve as a subject matter expert in tax discipline or industry
• Manage client service and ensure assignments meet budgeted time
• Supervise and delegate to tax preparers as needed
• Participate in client meetings and tax planning with larger clients
• Coach and develop senior staff and tax preparers
• Maintain knowledge of tax staff qualifications and assign training needs
• Oversee billing and collections and maintain firm tax philosophy knowledge
• Stay informed on tax developments affecting clients
• Occasional travel to client offices, meetings, and seminars
• Overtime may be required from Jan 1 to Apr 15
