Job summary

Databricks is seeking a senior data engineer to redesign tax processes by building automation and data pipelines on the Databricks platform and Finance Data Lake. You will bridge the tax team with the finance data team and all business data needed to support global tax reporting.

This high-impact role focuses on orchestrating jobs, applying AI use cases to tax, building self-service tax apps and dashboards, and ensuring accurate, auditable reporting for monthly, quarterly, and executive reviews.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in tax automation, transformation, or data engineering with 2+ years in tax-adjacent field
• Strong SQL/Python for data pipelines, Databricks experience is a plus
• Experience with ELT/ETL pipelines from source systems to tax workflows
• Understanding of close processes, tax provision, intercompany accounting, and financial reporting
• Ability to translate ambiguous Tax requirements into maintainable technical deliverables
• Comfort working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with BI and data visualization for tax-facing dashboards
• Exposure to AI/BI tools, and enthusiasm for AI in tax workflows

Responsibilities

• Architect and orchestrate data pipelines and automation on the Databricks platform
• Identify, scope, and deliver AI use cases for Tax including automation and anomaly detection
• Build and maintain internal tax apps, dashboards and self-service products for finance stakeholders
• Create reports and dashboards for monthly, quarterly, and executive-level reporting
• Ensure data integrations are maintained and reconciled for tax reporting and forecasting
• Enforce version control, PR reviews, and CI/CD pipelines to satisfy SOX requirements
• Support tax close and resolve data-related issues
• Collaborate with IT and Engineering for requirements and UAT of new systems
• Establish coding, data management, and documentation standards
