Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Tax Counsel - Information Reporting to ensure global information reporting compliance across products and processes, including FATCA, CRS, CARF and 1099. The candidate will assess new products' reporting requirements, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and advise on defensible positions while managing risks.

The role involves coordinating with Finance, product teams, and external advisors, and may entail mentoring junior attorneys.

Qualifications

5+ years of tax experience relevant to corporate operations and a JD degree.
Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage significant tax matters.

Responsibilities

Advise on complex tax issues affecting business operations, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
Develops and documents technical tax analyses supporting planning, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Partner with business units and Finance leadership to structure initiatives tax-efficiently and compliantly.
Identify tax risk exposures and mitigate them consistent with PayPal's risk tolerance.
Coordinate with outside advisors and manage external engagements.
Mentor junior attorneys or legal professionals and contribute to knowledge within the tax function.
