Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a highly motivated professional to join Team Gilbert as Assistant Tax Compliance Manager. You will report to the Tax Compliance Manager and oversee audits, provide advanced TP tax assistance, and coordinate with the Arizona Department of Revenue to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate will have extensive TP tax auditing experience, strong analytical abilities, and proven leadership to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent job-related experience.
• 6 years of extensive customer service experience.
• 5 years of local or State Transaction Privilege Tax auditing.
• 5 years of legal interpretation of tax code, law, policies, and regulations.
• 5 years of analytical research (descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive).
• 3 years of relationship management (training, mentoring, guiding).
• 1–2 years of Tax Compliance Administration.
• 1–2 years of public policy or working with the legislative process.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

• Manage the audit function of the division, reviewing the work for the audit staff, and handling tax inquiries.
• Initiates or responds to taxpayer inquiries and provides advanced transaction privilege tax assistance as well as resolving issues with licensing, reporting, and collections.
• Work with the Arizona Department of Revenue to ensure taxpayer issues are resolved, and all concerns are addressed accurately and efficiently.
• Performs complex audits.
• Assists the Tax Compliance Manager with the administration of the Division, including encouraging, educating, mentoring, and training Tax Compliance Division staff.
• Represents the Town of Gilbert on municipal and state committees.
