Job summary

The Oregon Department of Revenue is seeking a Tax Auditor 1 to join the Corporation Tax Audit team in Salem. The role focuses on performing audits of corporations doing business in Oregon and defending the department’s position at objection stage.

Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Corporation Tax Auditor (Tax Auditor 1) position.

We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented individual to join our Business Division in the Corporation & Estate Section.

This position is headquartered in our Salem office or any of our field office locations across the state.

The successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work.

Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.

In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon.

Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Prepares, presents and defends independently the department’s position at the written objection level.
  • Responding to written objections from taxpayers.
  • Preparing concise and understandable work papers and report of varied information obtained using a personal computer (word processing/spread sheet/data base software).
  • Review and evaluate amended returns and work the amended returns after the audit.
  • Performs excise or income tax audits on selected corporations that conduct business in Oregon.
  • Supports the supervisor in the Transit District Self-Employment program coordination and operational functions of the unit.
  • Provides taxpayer assistance by responding to questions which may include researching technical questions on various tax programs.

Additional Information

This is a SEIU-represented position. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
