Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Senior Associate to join our growing public accounting team. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and nonprofit organizations.
- Assist with tax planning strategies designed to minimize tax liabilities and maximize client value.
- Research and analyze tax issues, regulations, and legislation, providing practical recommendations to clients and internal teams.
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer tax-related questions, and resolve compliance matters.
- Prepare tax projections, estimated tax payments, and year-end planning analyses.
- Respond to IRS and state tax notices and assist with examinations when necessary.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Mentor and support junior staff by reviewing work, providing feedback, and assisting with technical development.
- Maintain compliance with filing deadlines while managing multiple client engagements.
- Collaborate with partners and managers to identify opportunities for additional advisory and consulting services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of recent public accounting tax experience.
- Experience preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, including:
- Individual (Form 1040)
- Partnership (Form 1065)
- S Corporation (Form 1120-S)
- C Corporation (Form 1120)
- Trust and Estate (Form 1041)
- Nonprofit (Form 990) experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax preparation and research software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or CPA eligibility.
- Experience serving clients across multiple industries, including closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
- Exposure to tax planning, consulting, and client advisory services.
- Familiarity with common public accounting software platforms.
