University of Central Florida seeks an Assistant Controller, Tax to lead tax compliance across federal, state, local, and international obligations. You will manage tax payments, audit-ready documentation, and research evolving regulations while training departmental staff on procedures.

The role requires strong leadership, deep tax knowledge in higher education, and experience with Workday or similar ERP systems. Eligible candidates should be authorized to work in the U.S. in Florida.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent per Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
• 5+ years progressive experience in tax compliance within higher education or a complex public-sector organization.
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant credential.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in a high-volume, compliance-driven finance environment.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, cash disbursement practices, and applicable federal/state regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
• Familiarity with Workday or a similar ERP system.
• Proven ability to evaluate financial risks, conduct compliance reviews, and present findings with recommendations.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and maintain compliance for international, federal, multi-state, and locally imposed tax-related requirements across the university.
• Monitor and remit state, local, and federal taxes for all applicable departments.
• Assist with changes in tax law and interpret guidance for management.
• Update policies and procedures and conduct training on tax compliance.
• Supervise and train staff, monitor performance, and conduct annual appraisals.
• Ensure integrity of financial records and quality of data for tax filings.
• Assist and coordinate defense during audits and coordinate with external counsel.
• Develop policies and procedures regarding internal controls and Workday implementations.
