Job summary

Boardwalk Pipelines, LP in Houston, TX is seeking a Tax Analyst to prepare and file sales and use tax returns for multiple legal entities. You will reconcile accounts, maintain registrations, and support Vertex reporting and audits.

The position requires 2–4 years of sales/use tax experience, proficiency in Excel, and strong communication skills. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred and experience with Oracle/Vertex is a plus.

We are currently looking for a Tax Analyst for our Houston, TX office.

Position Summary

The Tax Analyst will prepare and process sales and use tax returns for various legal entities for BWP. This will include reconciling transaction tax accounts, update sales and use tax registrations with the state and local authorities, maintain the use tax calendar, and answering questions pertaining to the amounts reported on the use tax returns. This position will also respond to inquiries from the state and local authorities, external customers and vendors as well as third party consultants. The Tax Analyst will assist with various sales and use tax matters pertaining to Vertex reports. This person will also assist with sales and use tax audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for multiple Boardwalk legal entities, ensuring accurate and timely compliance with state and local requirements.
• Reconcile sales and use tax accounts, research discrepancies, and coordinate resolution of identified issues.
• Maintain sales and use tax registrations with applicable state and local taxing authorities.
• Maintain the use tax compliance calendar and monitor filing requirements, deadlines, and related obligations.
• Review and analyze Vertex reports and transaction data to support accurate sales and use tax reporting.
• Respond to sales and use tax inquiries from internal stakeholders, taxing authorities, customers, vendors, and third-party consultants.
• Support sales and use tax audits by gathering documentation, responding to information requests, and assisting with audit analysis and resolution.
• Research sales and use tax questions and provide guidance regarding taxability, reporting, and application of relevant requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and orally
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat
• Data analytics, including trend analysis
• Excellent organizational skills
• 2-4 years of experience

PREFERRRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with Indirect tax returns, reconciling GL Accounts, and Tax Audits
• Experience working with Oracle and Vertex
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Business related field preferred
