This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who thrives in a production‑focused environment and values autonomy, precision, and growth toward a Senior Accountant / Tax Senior within the firm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting/tax experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
• Located in Eastern or Central time zone.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of monthly bookkeeping and accounting clients (up to 15–20 at capacity over time).
• Take each client engagement from start to finish on a monthly basis.
• Perform full-cycle accounting, including transaction coding, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and post adjusting journal entries and support month-end close processes.
• Prepare and finalize monthly financial statements.
• Review work when applicable and ensure accuracy of account classifications and reporting.
• Prepare individual and business tax returns during busy season.
• Communicate with clients as needed to gather documentation and clarify transactions (initially limited client-facing responsibility).
• Utilize QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online extensively as a power user.

The firm is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join their professional team.

This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a production-focused environment and enjoys managing multiple client engagements with precision and autonomy.

About the Role

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in managing monthly client accounting engagements from start to finish, and prepares individual and business tax returns during busy season - giving this role real exposure to the firm’s in-house tax practice from day one.

This is a plug-and-play opportunity for an experienced professional who can independently own the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation, with a natural growth path into a Senior Accountant / Tax Senior role.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
• Located in Eastern or Central time zone.
• Compensation: $90,000-$150,000, depending on experience.
• Busy season bonuses: Performance bonuses paid in June and December, based on individual and firm performance.
