Salary Range:

The targeted salary range for this position is $90,000-115,000.

  • High degree of precision in work product and documentation, supported by sound independent judgment, discretion, and tact in all professional interactions.
  • Ability to assess and analyze complex issues, develop practical recommendations and drive effective solutions through implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office productivity tools as well as experience with tax compliance software. Proficiency in tax research tools and tax preparation software.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze tax data related to the university’s investment portfolio, including partnership taxable income and tax basis.
  • Oversee federal, international, and state tax payment and refund process, and represent the university in identifying and resolving any discrepancies with tax authorities.
  • Prepare complex U.S. federal, state, and international tax filings (which in some cases are publicly available documents). Calculate and analyze taxable income and estimated tax payments for the University and related organizations.
  • Track, analyze and interpret tax information received from investment managers, including partnership Schedules K-1 and state equivalents, audited financial statements, international disclosures.
  • Prepare tax exemption certificates, tax forms, and supporting tax schedules in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Partner with university departments to provide tax guidance, support compliance efforts, and obtain required information in a timely manner.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret changes in tax laws and regulations relevant to the University, and assess their potential operational and compliance impact.
  • Manage and track key tax documents, including Schedules K-1, investment manager tax questionnaires, and other relevant tax records.
  • Maintain the Schedule K-1 electronic access inventory and manage responses to departmental tax-related inquiries.
  • Review contracts and other documentation to identify activities that may give rise to Unrelated Business Taxable Income (UBTI).
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, or Finance, with a minimum of four years of related tax experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
