Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Accountant to support our client’s Finance & Tax department. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate tax reporting, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, and supporting financial close processes. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in sales and use tax, strong analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

In this role, you will manage sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, contribute to month-end and year-end close activities, and support audit readiness. You’ll also collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate tax collection and reporting, while identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, file, and remit sales and use tax returns to state and local authorities.
  • Maintain and validate exemption certificates in accordance with state regulations.
  • Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis during close cycles.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate tax data collection.
  • Maintain documentation for general ledger activities and audit compliance.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by providing tax-related financial insights.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in sales and use tax compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
