Job summary

The West Virginia Tax Division is seeking a senior audits manager to plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of permanent staff responsible for desk audits of taxpayer accounts. The role requires knowledge of state tax laws and the ability to develop procedures and make independent recommendations to the Assistant Director.

Under limited supervision at full performance, you will evaluate employees, handle hiring and disciplinary actions, meet with administrators, and contact taxpayers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent paid experience in tax related auditing or accounting work.
• Six (6) semester hours of accounting required within one year of appointment or promotion.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of permanent employees administering tax laws relating to desk audits.
• Review work items associated with returns and payments.
• Develop and modify procedures; exercise independent judgment in recommending and initiating actions.
