Overview

This role supports Highgate’s Select Service Portfolio. The General Manager Task Force focuses on achieving hotel profitability through revenue, cost control, guest satisfaction, and employee development, while maintaining hotel integrity. The position requires travel and coverage for key General Manager vacancies within the region.

Responsibilities
  • Daily tour of operating departments with adjustments via department heads.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings and training sessions, review sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet financial review deadlines and participate in corporate programs.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with managers and supervisors.
  • Ensure departmental productivity and adherence to checkbook procedures.
  • Develop managers through training programs.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales on prospecting and account calls.
  • Participate in hotel sales efforts and client engagement activities.
  • Cover MOD shifts as scheduled.
  • Monitor management trainee development.
  • Ensure policy compliance and train managers accordingly.
  • Assist in budget processes.
  • Train staff on service standards and compliance.
  • Foster a positive, guest-focused team environment.
  • Regularly inspect rooms and property maintenance.
  • Manage invoice processing and financial documentation.
  • Maintain property cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Ensure staff interactions are friendly and efficient.
  • Forecast financials and analyze data for reforecasting.
  • Conduct management interviews and ensure proper hiring procedures.
  • Perform performance appraisals and manage staff discipline.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Meet clients and assist in sales activities.
  • Ensure guest engagement during peak times.
  • Oversee security and safe audits.
  • Conduct credit meetings and enforce collection policies.
  • Complete corporate training modules and certify trainers.
  • Attend scheduled meetings on property.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive hotel or related experience; or a 4-year degree with 4-5 years of experience; or a 2-year degree with 5-6 years of experience.
  • Light physical work, exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Participation in hotel meetings and M.O.D. coverage.
  • Regular attendance and grooming standards.
  • Ability to handle problems proactively and maintain confidentiality.
  • Multi-brand experience and travel availability required.
