Job summary

UT-Battelle's Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking a Maintenance Engineer focused on all phases of target maintenance at the Spallation Neutron Source.

The role coordinates with Systems Engineers and SMEs to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance, outages, and reliability initiatives.

You will guide planners, enforce safety and work-control standards, and uphold ORNL core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service.

Qualifications

• A BS degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex facility or nuclear facility maintenance planning and execution.

Responsibilities

• Own and direct all phases of target maintenance with detailed work plans.
• Collaborate with SEs and SMEs to develop work planning documentation.
• Forecast maintenance activities to align with outages and run cycles.
• Provide long-term evaluation for critical maintenance and obsolescence.
• Serve as SME for target maintenance activities.
• Lead engineering–maintenance integration to align reliability priorities.
• Ensure timely planned-maintenance notifications and return-to-service updates.
• Enforce work control standards and hazard controls during execution.
• Guide planners, schedulers, and area managers to ensure readiness.
