Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks an Associate Maintenance Engineer for HFIR to support maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution. The role focuses on safety, reliability, and efficient operations within the HFIR maintenance program.

Responsibilities include overseeing field activities, coordinating with owners and supervisors, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety policies. A BS in a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience are required for consideration.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, technology, applied science, or related field.
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution and utilization equipment.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience.
  • HFIR or nuclear facility knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with in-field oversight and technical direction.
  • Coordinates with equipment owners, craft supervisors, and facility management to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensures compliance with UT Battelle policies related to environmental protection, safety, ALARA, and quality assurance.
  • Develops written work instructions using human performance principles for maintenance and modification activities.
  • Administers the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for assigned areas and processes work orders.
  • Analyzes maintenance practices, equipment failures, and operating performance; prepares reports.
