Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Maintenance Engineer for the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR) to sustain equipment and facilities for safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Responsibilities include maintaining the HFIR maintenance program, implementing corrective, predictive, preventive, and modification work, and coordinating outage activities with multiple teams.

The role requires planning, scheduling, and instruction development, CMMS administration, and performance analysis

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical distribution and utilization equipment.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, UL White Book and related standards.
  • Experience diagnosing electrical equipment issues and creating work packages.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain HFIR equipment and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Lead corrective, predictive, preventive, and modification work activities.
  • Coordinate outage planning with HFIR staff and facility supervisors.
  • Develop written work instructions and manage scheduling and performance.
  • Administer CMMS for mechanical, electrical, and facilities areas; report findings.
