Vallarta Supermarkets in Downey, CA is seeking a Taqueria Cashier to provide friendly, fast service, record orders, operate the cash register, balance cash and prepare beverages, while maintaining Vallarta’s high standards of food safety, sanitation and customer service.

You’ll greet customers, upsell, maintain clean stations, follow health codes, handle money accurately, and work with the team across schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic understanding of English language.
• Responsible, professional, and positive attitude.
• Must be able to transfer to other locations within a reasonable commute.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Smile, greet, and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Accurately record customer orders while promoting sales through suggestive selling.
• Operate cash register, scale, and equipment properly.
• Follow company cash handling and payment policies.
• Balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
• Maintain full knowledge of food and beverage menus.
• Prepare and serve agua frescas, juices, coffee, and champurrado; ensure beverage quality throughout the day.
• Clean agua fresca jars, juice machines, coffee carafes, and champurrado pots safely.
• Follow health codes, food safety standards, personal hygiene, and sanitation practices.
• Maintain work areas, floors, tables, and salsa bar clean and replenished.
• Work safely, use equipment correctly, and report issues immediately.
• Support coworkers, assist customers, and model teamwork.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
