Job summary

Pilgrim is seeking a tannery drum operator for the D-shift at the Cactus, Texas facility. The role requires following PPE protocols, operating H2S monitor and other measurements, preparing drums for hides and loading procedures 24/7/364 days a year.

A pulmonary function test may be required for respirator qualification and random drug screening may occur due to safety sensitivity. Responsibilities include monitoring chemical usage, recording process steps, and sampling as needed in the beamhouse

Qualifications

• Follow PPE protocols before work and during all process steps.
• Maintain vigilance for H2S and other chemical hazards.
• Record and verify procedural steps as required by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Check PPE before use.
• Check the h2s monitor, pH meter, thermometer, and salometer.
• Prepare the drum to receive hides.
• Position the big door for loading.
• Check formula date for information, and formula receipt for chemicals to be used.
• Load and close the big door after loading.
• Use formula to start soaking; monitor water and chemicals.
• Record controls per formula and supervisor instructions.
• Measure samples as required by beamhouse process.
• Download drum after processing for lime fleshing transport.
