Job summary

Wabash in Mauston, WI is seeking a Welder Mechanic II to service, repair, and maintain tank trailers and containers. The role requires hands-on work across electrical, plumbing, framing, welding, grinding, painting, insulation, and decal application.

You will support less experienced technicians, climb structures, and operate safely amid noise, fumes, and dust. The job emphasizes compliance with DOT and ASME standards and a commitment to safety, PPE, and a clean, organized workspace.

Qualifications

• Repair and service electrical wiring and plumbing systems on tanks and containers.
• Perform structural repairs including framing, fenders, suspension, insulation.
• Welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel (MIG/TIG).
• Fabricate metal components from blueprints and drawings.
• Follow DOT and ASME standards for tank repair and inspection.
• Preferred: Experience as a Registered Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, and perform complete repairs on trailer bodies.
• Move trailers in and out of the shop safely.
• Test repaired tanks and trailers for safety and performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and wear PPE.
• Perform final cleanup tasks including painting and decal application.
• Climb ladders or scaffolding as required and work at height.
