Wabash is seeking an entry-level Welder Mechanic I to assist in repairing and maintaining tank trailers and containers. The role includes welding, basic electrical work, plumbing, insulation, painting, and general fabrication under supervision.

You must be physically capable of working in heights and confined spaces and adhere to safety procedures. A high school diploma and basic math/blueprint reading are desirable; teamwork and eagerness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of metal repair and fabrication.
• Familiarity with reading blueprints and engineering drawings is a plus.
• Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math.
• Able to lift, carry, or move objects weighing over 50 lbs with assistance.
• Knowledge of shop safety procedures and practices.
• Strong team player with a willingness to collaborate and learn.

Responsabilités

• Assist in the inspection, repair, and service of tank trailers and containers.
• Perform basic electrical repairs on trailers.
• Perform repairs on trailer plumbing systems.
• Perform repairs on support framing, insulation, jacketing, suspension, and fifth wheels.
• Operate MIG/TIG welding equipment to perform basic metal, aluminum, and stainless-steel fabrication tasks.
• Grind, weld, and patch tanks and containers under supervision.
• Performing tasks include sandblasting, priming, painting, fender installation, and decal application.
• Ensure all trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation safety standards.
• Complete tasks efficiently and according to production timelines.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas; follow all safety procedures.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Wear all required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear.
