Job summary

wabashcareers is hiring an entry-level Welder Mechanic I to repair tank trailers and containers. You will perform welding, basic electrical, plumbing, insulation, and painting tasks under supervision, following safety standards and production timelines.

A foundational understanding of repair techniques and blueprints is helpful. Candidate must be able to lift heavy objects, read measurements, and work in a noisy environment with PPE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic understanding of metal repair and fabrication.
• Familiarity with reading blueprints is a plus.
• Ability to read tape measures and perform basic math.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspection, repair, and service of tank trailers and containers.
• Perform basic electrical repairs on trailers.
• Repair trailer plumbing systems as needed.
• Work on support framing, insulation, jacketing, suspension, and fifth wheels.
• Operate MIG/TIG welding equipment for basic fabrication.
• Grind, weld, and patch tanks under supervision.
• Sandblast, prime, paint, and apply decals as required.
• Ensure trailers meet USDOT safety standards.
• Complete tasks efficiently within production timelines.
• Keep work areas clean and safe; follow safety procedures.
• Use hand and power tools safely; wear PPE at all times.
