Job summary

SEMO Tank is seeking a skilled Tank Trailer Repair Technician in Portales, NM to perform mechanical repairs, welding, grinding, polishing, and fabrication on new and used equipment.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and welding experience (TIG/MIG); able to read drawings, follow safety rules, lift 70 lbs, and work overtime as needed. This role offers hands-on fabrication and adherence to DOT standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent
• Technical/vocational training preferred
• Experience in TIG and MIG welding
• Experience welding stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel
• Knowledge of air-operated brake systems and suspension systems
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings
• Ability to lift over 70 lbs and work overtime

Responsibilities

• Perform cutting, aligning, fitting, and welding for repairs/modification or design of equipment
• Perform grinding and polishing to 3A standards
• Read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings
• Set up and operate fabricating machines to cut, form, drill, bend, and punch
• Repair air brake and suspension systems
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair to DOT standards
• Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workspace
• Furnish personal hand tools
• Record time and materials used on worksheets
