Job summary

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare cost estimates and schedules for construction projects to aid management in bidding. Responsibilities include studying drawings, performing job walks, compiling materials and labor needs, and planning work sequences with clients.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years estimating or 5+ years tank-building experience, basic cost accounting, and strong Excel/PowerPoint skills along with excellent communication.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience or 5+ years in tank building, or a college degree.
• Basic cost accounting knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; MS Office.
• Ability to read drawings and plans.

Responsibilities

• Studies drawings, plans and specs to understand work and uses math to estimate.
• Performs job walks to assess field conditions and environment.
• Compiles lists of materials, tools, and equipment needed.
• Determines workforce and classifications required for the job.
• Coordinates with craftsmen, engineers, safety personnel and attorneys.
• Reviews proposals and presents to appropriate personnel.
• Plans work sequence in logical order and confirms with client.
• Computes overall costs for materials, labor and subcontracted work.
• Provides weekly/biweekly updates on all projects.
• Maintains clear verbal and written communication with all parties.
• Uses basic computer skills to input data and issue reports.
