Canal Barge Company in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Barge Readiness Technician to inspect tank barges prior to loading and after cleaning. The role requires willingness to work outdoors and travel daily to local job sites.

You will learn tank barge systems, read USCG COI, SDS, and cargo documents, perform routine maintenance on pumps and engines, and document findings with forms. Reliability, strong attention to detail, and safe work practices are essential.

Formación

• Knowledge of tank barges is preferred but not required.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Reliable means of transportation required.
• A high school diploma or equivalency.
• Able to pass a background check.
• Able to pass a physical exam which includes a respirator fit test and requires the candidate to be clean shaven.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect barges ready for cargo transfer and ensure no customer rejections.
• Ensure safe work practices and on-time attendance.
• Inspect hulls, documentation, cleanliness, safety systems, machinery and fittings.
• Read and understand tank barge documents (USCG COI, SDS, Strappings, COFR).
• Start barge pump engine and inspect for defects.
• Document work and complete forms; assist with barge operations.
