Job summary

Canal Barge Company is seeking a Liquid Barge Technician to inspect tank barges before and after cargo operations, verify cleanliness, assess mechanical function, and identify safety or regulatory issues. The role requires detailed inspection skills, the ability to read barge documents, and hands-on experience with pumps and gauges.

Travel to multiple locations is possible and adherence to safety and environmental standards is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Extensive hands-on experience with barges, familiarity with pumps, compressors, gauges and tanks.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Must pass CBC Barge Readiness Course.
• Ability to gauge tanks.
• Possess a TWIC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of tank barges, including voids, documents, equipment, and cleanliness.
• Start barge engine and inspect for defects.
• Perform minor maintenance on barge pumps, engines, boilers, and heaters.
• Maintain clean decks and prevent spills; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Travel to multiple locations as needed; support barge operations.
• Adhere to safety rules and environmental guidelines; use PPE.
• Represent Canal Barge Company professionally and uphold company policies.
