Job summary

Orange County Property Appraiser's Office seeks an Appraiser II to perform appraisal duties for tangible personal property (TPP) and assist with valuation for ad valorem tax purposes. The role requires inspecting properties, gathering data, and calculating values to ensure fair market assessments.

The position includes preparing evidence for the Value Adjustment Board and may involve emergency response duties.

Qualifications

Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or Finance is preferred.
Four years of experience as a TPP Appraiser or related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Professional designation of Certified Florida Evaluator (CFE) is preferred.
Must be proficient with database software and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

Conducts physical inspection of tangible personal property for businesses.
Gather data on property type, age, condition, and quantity and verify values reflect fair market value.
Calculate taxable value from property tax returns and investigate incomplete or questionable returns.
Investigate inquiries and complaints concerning value and explain methods to property owners.
Prepare VAB evidence packages and appear before the Value Adjustment Board to defend assessments.
Perform safety checks and operate agency vehicle as required.
Support emergency response activities during disasters and be prepared for after-hours duties.
