Job summary

Interlingva, Inc. is seeking a Tamil Interpreter in the Sacramento area to provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings as an independent contractor with a flexible schedule.

Assignments are based in Sacramento and available regularly depending on language demand and interpreter qualifications; candidates must be based in the Sacramento area and able to obtain medical clearances and background checks.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Tamil and English.
• Experience interpreting in medical, legal, and community settings.
• Oral interpretation in both Tamil ↔ English directions.
• Work effectively with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant experience.
• Must be based in Sacramento Area.
• Willingness to obtain medical clearances and background checks.
• Possession of a valid California license.

Job Description
This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities.

The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings.Assignments are based in Sacramentoand are available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters qualifications.

Qualifications

• Fluency in both Tamil and English
• Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication
• Strong ability to interpret orally between Tamil and English in both directions
• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
• Must be based in Sacramento Area
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
• Possession of a valid California license
