Job description

Locations: New York | Boston

Who We Are
The Staffing function is the holistic owner of key components of the BCG consulting team employee experience. Most notably, the function drives the development and deployment of BCG’s most important asset – its people – while supporting overall business objectives (e.g. staff utilization, project team balance).
The Talent Specialist – Pipeline will play a key role in supporting the Staffing function in the New York Talent Management team within BCG’s Northeast system, while also serving as a team member of the larger consulting talent community in North America.
The Talent Specialist – Pipeline partners with the Pipeline team to support end-to-end staffing for projects in assigned Practice Areas (PAs), aligning case team needs to business priorities and individual goals. They support the weekly staffing cadence (case intake, shortlist distribution, and final staffing decisions), help manage the SAM pipeline with accurate project entry, and build awareness of active and potential casework within assigned PAs to support balanced case team design. This individual provides leverage to more senior Pipeline team members by handling staffing point-of-contact responsibilities for case team leaders (e.g., XOs, CTLs) on assigned cases, and supports short-term staffing (STS), internal staffing, and summer interns staffing as relevant for the system.
The role is ideal for someone passionate about a career in the HR/People space who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment while maintaining keen attention to detail. A qualified candidate demonstrates good judgment and critical thinking (seeking assistance when appropriate), demonstrates ownership and reliability in following through, shows curiosity and adaptability in learning new tools and processes, and communicates clearly and thoughtfully with stakeholders (including all levels of Consulting staff and Business Services Team members across functions like Finance/HR) to meet the needs of individual consultants, the firm, and our clients.
What You'll Do
In the Talent Specialist – Pipeline role, you would focus your time and talents on:
  • Supporting end-to-end staffing for individual projects in assigned Practice Areas, partnering with more senior Pipeline team members on case context, needs, and final decisions; helping to identify, connect, and confirm consulting resources for opportunities
  • Supporting the weekly staffing cadence (case intake, shortlist distribution, and final staffing decisions on Thursdays) in partnership with senior Pipeline team members; serving as a staffing point of contact for case team leaders (e.g., XOs, CTLs) on assigned cases
  • Supporting management of the SAM pipeline through accurate, timely project entry; building awareness of active and potential casework within assigned PAs
  • Helping optimize team designs across projects as priorities shift; supporting senior team members in ACPL case team design; ensuring successful deployment and development on early cases (New Hires)
  • Consolidating and sharing staffing information and lists for cohorts in accordance with project needs and budgetary constraints; working effectively with the Talent team across the system and NAMR for balanced teams
  • Serving as a partner to senior Pipeline team members in evaluating options during the staffing process, building understanding of team and client economics and adhering to regional policies and guidelines
  • Building fluency in the business and finance lens applied to staffing decisions; maintaining visibility on the case pipeline; supporting senior team members in understanding how staffing moves impact case team economics
  • Supporting case intake, triaging, and load-balancing for the TM team in collaboration with team leadership

  • Supporting end-to-end short-term staffing in the time between formal assignments for consultants, communicating and coordinating with consulting staff and Talent Managers — prioritizing demands in real time as needed
  • Helping ensure all consulting staff have fair access to staffing opportunities; supporting efforts to build diverse, balanced teams
  • Building fluency with finance and business mechanics to understand the impact each individual staffing decision has on cohort, roster, office, and ultimately system success
  • Collaborating with other functions at relevant points of intersection (Career Development, Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Teaming@BCG, Career Services, Finance, etc.)
  • Coordinating inputs and outputs with a diverse group of stakeholders at various levels of seniority; working as a team contributor within local, system, regional, and global staffing structures to ensure day-to-day outcomes are in line with policies
  • Leveraging digital tools and access to People and Finance reports to ensure data-driven decision making
